Every month, we collect donations for a local cause through rounding up your transaction total at the register. This month, for the first time, your round up funds will offset the costs of the Wedge’s own Co-op Affordability Project (CAP), a program Wedge has funded internally since the spring of 2015. So why are we asking you to round up for CAP now? Here are some quick stats:
- Since its founding in 2015, over five thousand owners have joined the co-op through the CAP program.
- Active CAP owner count as of August 31, 2026 is 1,802.
- Over the past five years, program costs have totaled nearly $300,000 per year, on average.
October is Co-op Month, so what better time to raise awareness of this impactful access program than now?
At Wedge Co-ops, we believe everyone deserves access to local, fresh, high-quality foods that support a sustainable future for people and planet. CAP was designed to reduce the upfront cost to become a co-op owner, and to provide a tiered pathway to the full $80 ownership investment. Because everyone deserves the opportunity to join their community-owned grocery store, to shop with their values, and support the growers and makers who uphold our local food system.
