HARISSA MAPLE CARAMEL SAUCE
Ingredients
1 cup maple syrup
¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons heavy cream (for vegan, use coconut cream)
1 ½ tablespoon unsalted butter, room temperature, cubed (for vegan, use vegan butter or coconut oil)
½ -1 cup Harissa Pepper Sauce (adjust based on your desired spice level)
Preparation
- In a medium saucepan with a heavy bottom, bring the maple syrup to aboil over medium heat. Allow to simmer until a candy thermometer reaches 230 F.
- Remove from the heat and gradually add the cream.
- Place back on the heat and bring back to a boil and cook, while stirring, until smooth.
- Add the butter and stir until melted.
- Stir in harissa pepper sauce.
- Transfer to a bowl or jar and let cool completely.
