Take a walk through our produce departments, and you will find countless varieties of fruit, vegetables, herbs, and mushrooms in a kaleidoscope of colors and textures. We carefully source all of these items based on quality, freshness, and sustainable farming practices. We emphasize direct buying relationships with local farms, cultivating partnerships that have lasted decades. A handful of farms are synonymous with our co-op, and grow the bulk of what you find on our produce shelves during the Minnesota growing season and beyond. Read more about these key local farmer-partners below, and look for their produce next time you shop!
Featherstone Farm
Featherstone Farm is a 250 acre, certified organic farm in the rolling bluffs near Rushford MN. Founded in 1994 by Jack Hedin and Jenni McHugh, the original farm was started by a community land co-op and located in Winona MN. 30 years later, Featherstone Farm now cultivates 70 varieties of fresh fruits and veggies to distribute to grocery stores, co-ops, and restaurants. They also operate summer and winter CSA (community supported agriculture) programs.
Harmony Valley
Based in southwestern WI, Harmony Valley Farm consists of 200+ acres of pasture, crop land, and woods. They also lease nearby land to grow over 100 acres of organic berries and vegetables. They offer organic CSA boxes and raise organic grass-fed black angus. Using rotational grazing, cover cropping, and incorporating compost and natural rock powders into the soil, Harmony Valley Farm goes far beyond basic organic farming methods.
