It is with heavy hearts that TCCP is announcing the permanent closure of the Nicollet facility. This includes The Wedge Table (market and café), commissary kitchen, bakehouse, and catering.
We have greatly appreciated our employees and community since opening in 2015. Thank you for your continued support as we transition through this period.
Q. Why are we closing the Wedge Table/Nicollet Facility?
A. Since the pandemic started, customer counts and sales have decreased dramatically at the Wedge Table. People quit coming in because they could not or did not need to gather. We held on as long as we financially could through the pandemic to keep people employed, but the business model and operating at reduced capacity was not working. Now, we need to consolidate resources and concentrate our efforts on our core operations that include the Wedge Co-op and the Linden Hills Co-op and the Co-op Partners Warehouse.
Q.What about the bakery, commissary kitchen and catering operations?
A. We will outsource our bread operation and will no longer operate the commissary kitchen or offer catering services. We will move the production of commissary and bakery items to our two retail locations
Q. What will happen to the staff currently employed at the commissary?
A. We are working to place employees at our other locations and aiding others through the transition.
Q. When is the last day of operation?
A.July 12 will be our last day of operation.
Q. What will happen with inventory?
A. We will simply transfer those raw goods to our retail stores.
Q. What will happen to the building?
A. We plan to sell the building.

On August 11, 2020, we were notified that an employee of Twin Cities Co-op Partners tested positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19). We are following all recommended guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
The employee is based at our Nicollet location and last worked on August 3, 2020. They are currently at home on paid leave and will not return to work until the appropriate amount of time has elapsed according to MDH guidelines.
We have notified all staff who worked in close proximity (defined as under 6 feet) for an extended period of time (defined as 5 minutes or more) with the employee and they are also at home on paid leave as outlined in MDH guidelines.
Our main concern at this time is the well-being of this employee, our staff and our community. We opened the Wedge Table in 2015 as a place for our community to gather together and enjoy food. With COVID-19, what it means for the community coming together has changed. And with these changing conditions, we have seen increased challenges in running the Table.
TCCP’s leadership and board have decided to close the Wedge Table through 2020. The last day of business will be July 19. Over the next six months we will be working to re-imagine the space and determine how it can best serve our owners and the community. A big thank you to all the staff who have worked there over the years and all the customers who have supported it.

Why are we temporarily closing the Wedge Table?
Since the pandemic started, customer counts and sales have decreased dramatically at the Wedge Table. While we have seen sales increases at the Wedge and Linden Hills, that is not the case at the Wedge Table. The space was intended as a meeting and gathering space for the community – not primarily as a grocery store. The need for community gathering space is not the same for the immediate future. As a small grocery store alone, the business model does not work. And as the lower sales indicate it is not filling as important of a role for our customers.
How can you justify closing during this time of unrest and lack of food resources?
There are ample food alternative resources available in the surrounding Whittier community such as The Wedge within less than one mile away and several others. In fact, there are over 20 places one can buy groceries within one mile of the Wedge Table. We feel confident that we are not cresting a food desert. Since the pandemic started, customer counts and sales have decreased dramatically and the space was intended as a meeting space and gathering space which has changed so for the immediate future, we cannot fulfill this need at this time.
What is going to happen to the staff currently employed at The Table?
We will be offering staff open positions in the organization. Those staff would move to positions at the Wedge or Linden Hills starting after the Table closes.
When is the last day of operation?
We plan to have Sunday July 19 as our last day of operation.
When it is stated as a temporary closure, what does this mean?
We anticipate being closed at least 6 months – through the end of 2020. We will use this time to evaluate changing community needs and determine how to best use the space.
Does this closure include the commissary, catering and bakehouse?
No. We are continuing to operate all back of house functions and will continue to produce much of the food for our own retail locations and external customers in the commissary and bakery spaces.
Will the Community Rooms be available to use?
These spaces will be available for internal staff use only.
Are we able to convert the space to fulfill other community needs at this time?
We’ve reached out to a variety of community partners about utilizing the empty space for food distribution or temporary commercial space, but no one is interested at this time. We are open to exploring how the space can help meet community needs as they arise during this time of closure.
Please be advised that as of May 20, 2020, we have been notified that one employee who works in the cheese department of the Wedge on Lyndale Avenue tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We immediately contacted the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and are following all recommended guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). As a response to protect the health and safety of our workforce and our customers, we are notifying our community members.
The employee last worked on May 16 and is recovering at home on paid leave of absence and will not return to work until the appropriate amount of time has lapsed per MDH guidelines. We have notified and requested other employees who were in close proximity (defined as under 6 feet) with the affected person for prolonged periods (defined as 5 minutes or more) to self-quarantine for 14 days with paid leave of absence. All staff onsite were notified of the positive test result. Any concerned employees and anyone at high risk have been able to leave for the day and/or self-quarantine for up to 14 days.
Our primary concern right now is the wellness of the employee, other staff, and our community. The Minnesota Department of Health assures us this positive test result does not make any of the Twin Cities Co-op Partners locations a higher-risk environment than other public spaces. As such, the co-op locations will remain open from 8:00am to 9:00pm daily.
A thorough sanitization has been completed after hours. All service areas in the retail locations undergo a CDC-approved sanitization process. In our food production areas, we clean and sanitize all food contact surfaces, dishware, utensils, food preparation and beverage services after use with a sanitizer as required by the Health Department. Increased safety sanitization measures for consumer-facing areas have been underway since mid-March when general concerns were first identified associated with the Minnesota Stay-At-Home order that includes an EPA registered and CDC recommended peroxide-based cleaner to the sanitization process.
Along with the many safety measures already enacted, all TCCP employees are required to wear a mask during shifts.

As a response to protect the health and safety of our workforce and our customers, we are notifying our community members.
The employee has had minimal, if no contact, with customers and is recovering at home on paid leave of absence and will not return to work until the appropriate amount of time has lapsed per MDH guidelines. We have notified and requested other employees who were in close proximity (defined as under 6 feet) with the affected person for prolonged periods (defined as 5 minutes or more) to self-quarantine for 14 days with paid leave of absence and seek a COVID-19 test. Those test results will be sent to Human Resources and evaluated before staff return to work. All staff onsite were notified of the positive test result. Any concerned employees and anyone at high risk have been able to leave for the day and/or self-quarantine for up to 14 days.

All service areas in the retail locations undergo a CDC-approved sanitization process. Increased safety sanitization measures for consumer-facing areas have been underway since mid-March when general concerns were first identified associated with the Minnesota Stay-At-Home order that includes an EPA registered and CDC recommended peroxide-based cleaner to the sanitization process.
Starting May 7, 2020, along with the many safety measures already enacted, all TCCP employees are required to wear a mask during shifts. Disposable masks will be made available as well as a $10 reimbursement fee for reusable masks. Proper handling and care instructions will be made available as well.

On April 29, 2020, we were notified that one employee at Twin Cities Co-op Partners tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We immediately contacted the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and are following all recommended guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
The employee works in the bakery production department during overnight shifts on Nicollet Avenue with no contact to customers and has not worked in the facility since April 18, 2020. This person is recovering at home and will not return to work until the appropriate amount of time has lapsed per MHD guidelines. We have notified other employees who were in close proximity (defined as under 6 feet) with the affected person for prolonged periods (defined as 5 minutes or more) during the shifts on April 18. We are monitoring staff for symptoms and requesting those not feeling well to stay home.
Our primary concern right now is the wellness of this employee, other staff and our community. The Minnesota Department of Health assures us this positive test result does not make any of the Twin Cities Co-op Partners locations a higher-risk environment than other public spaces. As such, the co-op locations will remain open from 8:00am to 9:00pm daily.

TCCP is committed to remaining a reliable destination in serving our community to provide necessary resources for families, owners and staff. As the safety of our community is our first priority, TCCP wants to update and assure you that we are monitoring information regarding coronavirus disease, now called COVID-19. TCCP is following information, as available, from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and FMI: The Food Industry Association. TCCP has an Emergency Response Plan and a set of guidelines to follow with a phased approach depending on the status of coronavirus. We are in the cold and flu season and COVID-19 symptoms resemble these more common infections. It is believed that it is far more likely that anyone in Minnesota with respiratory symptoms is suffering from a cold or flu.
