The Wedge offers its monthly specials beginning the last Wednesday of the prior month through the last Tuesday of the sale month. So for example, June's sale prices went into effect on May 28 and will go off sale June 24.

It may seem crazy, but there are some solid operational reasons behind this choice. Wednesdays are one of the slower days of the week for us, and setting up the casestacks and endcaps for monthly sales goes the most smoothly on that day. Setting aside a single day of the week for our endcap changes also allows us to give our employees consistent schedules. If the 1st of the month were to fall on a Saturday or Sunday (or even Monday or Friday), the load size we would have to bring in would be untenable for both the crew and our shoppers on those days.

Dates of monthly sales are clearly stated on every single sale sign except for the "while supplies last" items. As the name implies, these items are on sale for a limited time due to limited availability, or due to excess stock from a sale that we are trying to move out of the store.

We have been using this method for years now, and it has proven solid operationally for both staff and shoppers.
